Who are we?
The link group in Helensburgh Parish is an informal gathering of folk, mostly ladies, who gather together to enjoy some time together, in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Some useful information about us:
- We meet on alternate Monday evenings from October through all the way to March
- The venue is in the Small Hall at 7:30 pm
- The Link Group in Helensburgh Parish Church meets every two weeks
We enjoy the companionship of friends and warmly welcome visitors who might come along to listen to one of our excellent speakers. There is no membership fee , but each meeting we make a small charge, which covers tea , coffee and biscuits and also helps to defray any travelling costs incurred by our visiting speakers.
There are two fund raising evenings each year, usually a coffee morning and a musical event, most recently, with the amazing Allander Jazz Band and a Coffee Morning which were both held in the Main Hall . We have a variety of speakers on topics ranging from those of a local nature, such as The Hermitage Park regeneration programme and the Local Foodbank, to, enlightening talks by the Street Preachers and Christian Music through Worship. Over the last two sessions some of our speakers’ topics have included – Inverclyde Street Pastors, Helensburgh and Lomond Food Bank, the Hermitage Park Project, Crime Prevention, Bletchley Park , Grey Matters.
In addition to gathering socially at our meetings, we organise a trip to the Theatre around Christmas and a Dinner in April . Traditionally , the Link Group Ladies have always helped out at Church Lunches, Socials , Coffee Mornings and at many other events where help is required. We do this willingly and it is fun to meet up with other Church Members and visitors , and also to assist in carrying out God’s work, in Helensburgh Parish Church .
We also have fun evenings. There is always time at the end for a cup of tea and a chat and monies raised at these events are donated to Helensburgh Parish Church, Girls Brigade and Boys Brigade and also to many of the charities represented by our speakers.
Visitors are always welcome at any of our meetings or other social occasions within the Church .
